That is what we would do and kids were fine with it. If you remove the crank too obviously it would be safer. Use your judgment on your own safety level desired.

This bike is very lightweight. Toddlers can pick bbn it up to carry bbn it easily. Parents can carry it to the car or wherever without effort. Really convenient!
