You need TB3 to support that data. Can't get over USB-C. TB3 docks are a lot more. I suggest CalDigit and take a look at their refurbished....

i picked up a cable matters usb-c sd card reader and it kept dropping connection. Any problems with this one? Looks like cable is permanently attached as well. no swapping usb-c cable.

I have a similar adapter and these work great for usb controllers to play emulated games on your phone. You can get pairs of usb SNES or N64 controllers online for like $10-15

I couldn't find any at all on amazon until you get to 200 dollar or more. I went with a USB-C to HDMI cable from Cable Matters which did the trick. They also make one that has power passthrough.

What laptop are you running? Is it powered via USB-C or does it use a proprietary plug? The only reason you would need a hub that supports power delivery is if you your USB-C port is being used...
