You're basically comparing the E-2224G with your E3-1225 v3. It's a marginal improvement in performance and efficiency. I wouldn't buy this as an upgrade. I would buy this if I needed another server...

I didn't see any settings in the BIOS to enable the M.2 slot. The System Information section doesn't show anything pertaining to the M.2 slot, just the 4 SATA ports.
