Someone correct me if I'm wrong but the 2nd generation's only real advantage is it's smaller depth so it fits smaller old outlet boxes.

Because trescamels says you are very wrong. Edit: they must be pulling from newer stock in some locations. $29 got me the v2, which I assume was because of the next day shipping.
