Had this, it worked fine, but charging monthly fee for IFTTT or smart control is ridiculous. Moved to a Z-Wave system (linear) which works great.

As far as opening and closing yes it works with most doors, you program it to your opener just like you would an extra remote. The smart side of it I cannot comment on that side.
