I'll never buy Onkyo again after all the HDMI issues they had several years ago. Might be fixed now but had a lot of issues 5 ish years ago.

For me yes. Because my living room tv and bedroom tv share the same wall back to back and I can route 2 hdmi output to each screen if we ever want to watch the same thing on the other or both screens.

Sounds like a bug. I read some users were able to get it working by pressing the pure direct button on and then off, atmos then displayed and was being decoded properly

so if you press the info button you will find the audio codecs. But it never shows atmos. I have heard about this issue from other RX-683 owners online as well.
