Had to many issues on mine speakers would buzz at high volumes and every noise would have some buzzing to it returned it and picked the the tcl 5 series 65$ for 499 and the picture is quite better

I find the picture quality of the built-in Android TV to be poor. Is it possible it's a 1080p Android TV running in a 4k TV? Audio is fairly poor as well.

Yes! Just press the TV button on remote and it will prompt to Autoscan for OTA channels. Mine found over 60 OTA digital channels with just a non-powered sheet antenna.
