This is a nice CPU for content creators and power users but overkill for gaming. There is little to no game improvements so if that’s what you are going for get the 3600x if you can find it under...

It's funny how my CPU is 5yrs old already and yet most games are still GPU limited at 4k. I want to upgrade but as of yet I have no real reason to.

Any good compatible memory and mobo deals to go with this?

I believe that depends on the kind of gaming you are looking at. For instance having 4 cores in the same chiplets should be quite good for RPCS3 as it does best with 8 threads that need to stay...

If it were me, I'd get it now before it potentially gets sold out, or at least you get to lock in its price at $300. Luckily for me when I bought this CPU, it was at $310 and so I called Amazon, the...

Current Amazon price is also 299 FYI. Probably just price matched because it was about $10 more earlier.

That's $10 less than Amazon https://www.walmart.com/ip/AMD-Ryzen-7-3700X-100-100000071BOX/431501281

I went with the MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC for $130 since I didn't need SLI or PCIe Gen4

I bought the 3800x for $329 already. Is it worth it to save the $29 and get this if I'm not planning on overclocking either chip? Gonna be used primarily for gaming/streaming. Will there be any...

Any x470 or x570 board is compatible. My preference is Asus. My experience with msi and gigabyte have been negative. Ryzen CPUs like fast memory. I suggest getting the fastest in your budget.

How are you comparing the two? Lol

If your budget is tight and you can get a better GPU for that $30, go through the hassle and upgrade your GPU. If that $30 is disposable, it's not entirely wasted on the 3800X but when compared...
Any thoughts on using a B350 with this?
Post #132875156 added 12-02-2019 11:31 AM by andynazay153 in Deal Talk
I would say it is worth it because if you buy this and a good x570 MB you won't have to buy a new board for a few generations...and you will get better performance in games than you do right now.

Microcenter has for the same price and if you order it with a motherboard, you get $30 off. If I were building a computer at this time, this without be my CPU of choice. You get 8 cores at 65 watts.

If you're only gaming, it's not going to help you that much. You're much better off spending money on a graphics card, but you already have a high end card.

But the power and loss is much hihger. I am not sure how much the performance is better though.

Yes, a 2700X is compatible w/ an X570 motherboard. Hopefully, the motherboard you choose to get supports it OOB w/o a BIOS update.

I've been really lucky b/c as of this month as a whole, I was able to find deals on all the parts I needed (MB, PSU, CPU, and RAM). Speaking of a motherboards, Amazon had the Asus Prime X570-P on...

IIRC, a B350 board is from first gen Ryzen which won't be compatible w/ the 3700X if I'm not mistaken. Try B450, X470 or X570, and you should be good. ---EDIT--- I would def suggest you watch the...

I've been looking to upgrade my [email protected] setup. I have a 2080Ti and game @ 4k. Is this one worth upgrading to or should I wait for the next gen of Intel chips to come out?

Asking specifically about gaming at 4k/60Hz with a 2080Ti. I've heard varying things, mainly not that much of a difference. Also can you use a 2700X in a X570 board? Once I upgrade my motherboard I'm...

I just upgraded from a 5930K to a 2700X (it's a place holder until the prices of the 3950X/3900X come down in price) and it was a nice little bump in performance,so I imagine a 3800X would feel even...
