They are the same as far as how they function. Schlage Connect refers to their Z-Wave models. Only difference in the one in your link on Amazon and the one in my link on HD is the trim style.

Yeah when my house was built I had the alarm keypad moved to the front door instead of the garage entry and I now realize I use the garage entry 99% of the time. Ugh.

Do not recommend the Kwikset SmartCode 913 as you have to unscrew and remove the back plate to change codes. The black plastic part does not lift up.

The only thing that comes to mind is that the lock felt some resistance either opening or closing and it send a jammed signal to Ring. I assumed the jam thing is when you're trying to open/close...
