I believe that Chamberlain recommends the hub be within 50 feet of your router, but mine is much farther than that and connects fine. But yes, wi-fi signal needs to be considered.

The sensor is for informing you if the door is open or close. You can program to another door without the sensor but you will not know if it is left open or close.

A couple other solutions I saw: put a small blob of Gorilla glue or epoxy on the speaker; drill a hole in the middle of the speaker (apparently it's a piezo type). Don't drill into the circuit board!
