Oh hell yeah. I tested that out as a virtual appliance I think. I do love Synology, hence my backup being just that. I haven't used their backup solution, but that sounds very simple. Nice setup!

Just ordered wd mybooks 8tb - 3 drives for $378 with taxes from wd. 20X points with perks at work, shld be worth $70 or so. Mybook drives are easily shuckable whites

Yes, these drives are great for NAS, running plex, etc. Whether 2 is enough, or safe redundancy-wise is totally up to you. I personally run in RAID5 mode.

They changed the label to white instead of red to note which/where the red drive came from. It is still a red nas drive.
