I talked with customer service and they said its a must. There is no replacement on the market outside. I guess thats another way of generating revenue for these guys.

I just switched a couple months ago. I have the 300 plan. The modem/router combo came for free with a $50 Visa card. Not sure if that's true anymore from what you say. Service is just fine....

Yes you can. The only AT&T service I have is fiber internet and I pay it through the myAT&T app. On my amex the charge shows as AT&T UVERSE PAYMENT.

I have offer on a card but does not look like it qualifies for existing service or if bundled with ATT U-Verse. Added anyway and changed billing to that card. Guess we'll see if I get the offer.

AT&T keeps changing the offer. A year ago, there was no monthly equipment fee but unlimited data was not included. Now, unlimited data is included but a $10 monthly equipment fee is showing.
