Same boat as myself last year - set up the Switch with all the updates, pairing, and downloading the games so they can 'open' and play Christmas morning! So worth it!

I just tried it and yeah, you need the switch handy. I bought one as a Christmas gift and had to open it, do the initial setup and link it. Then access the eStore once. Then I could do the purchase...

Yep, they get exposure by having the most downloaded games in the eShop (Robonauts is currently #1) for 10 days. It is very hard to get noticed with so much shovelware or freemium type mobile games...
