I’m not sure how it works if you mix them, but I’d suggest getting another year of gold as a precaution instead. Another idea is to contact Microsoft and ask them.

Another option is to create a new Xbox live account since that one is brand new. That way you get a better ratio of 1:1 instead of 1:3. Still worth it in the long run if you want it for 36 months
