The HVAC guy I have has a $180 minimum charge to put in a dry vent rough out. The hole for that is 4 1/8 for a 4" pipe so that kit will make me money. I also use it for drain tile in a sump pit....

The one size they don't have is the slightly larger than 4"... I think it's 4 and 1/16 or 1/8. That's the size you'll need to run main stacks, and also to run dryer hoses, vents,etc.

They are fine for metal. Use cutting fluid and good pressure and you can cut plenty.

Bough this set last year. Used it several times. Yes it can be used on wood. Bi-metal refers to the material they are built out of. Bi-metal is not as durable as carbide.

You can also use cutting fluid or an all purpose oil for metal. It helps with heat and friction. I use it all the time with any metal drilling/cutting. Keeps the bits lasting longer too.

Another trick is drill some small holes 1/4" or so along the perimeter which allows the chips to fall out of the gullets.
