Don’t need but this is a great deal. Something like these are a necessity for folks doing heavy squats/deadlifts. Don’t plan on being mobile in these though.

More premium yes, more stability? maybe by a tiny margin. Unless you're squatting 5-600+ lbs, the semi-soft sole vs. a hard plastic sole will be imperceivable.

For deadlifts, where you want your foot as close to the floor, correct. For squats, a heel lift often helps especially if you have poor mobility.
