The hiss is from the amp. There's a +4/-10dB switch on the back and volume knob. Dialing it down on the speaker and just sending a hotter signal from audio interface takes care of that.

Don't forget you need an interface like a scarlet to run these and TRS or XLR cables. Or a 3.5mm TRS Male to Dual XLR Male cable but then it wouldn't be balanced.

These are fine for gaming. I'm literally using them right now. Crystal clear sound, no obnoxious extra bass to distort what the developers intended me to hear. These have good bass, clear sound.

Ground loop sounds like a low-freq hum. This is just a silky soft hiss and originates from class D (I think?) amps. All monitors that use this kind of amp have some hiss.
