Counter opinion here, the stands are very picky if you have a case like an otterbox. These let me place where it needs to go.my models with stands it doesn't seem as effective

No, the coils are only a few mm from the back of the phone. Even if it could work, you won't charge fast enough to justify it. Get your wife a case with a built in socket and call it a day.

I disagree. I have had an OtterBox or generic case on the 3 phones that I've used the stands chargers with and haven't had much of an issue with the charging position.
