yes, especially if the older desktop was pre-TRIM or just needs the extra space. the SSD will be faster, but this is a decent compromise for those on a budget.

Just get a samsung, comes with clone software, and for an os drive, never go with anything less than an ssd, the prices are low enough now that it doesn't matter.
