There are numerous dovetail jigs available, but this is the standard one recommended by most woodworkers and there are a ton of videos on YouTube for it. There are also a couple of really good ones...

You can use it with any router with a base that will hold the template guides and a collett that will hold 1/2" bits. I use a Milwaukee router. Well made and built to last. Nice find

Short answer is no, don't use compact routers with this. The included bits are 1/2" shank which compact ones don't support. Also you need to use a guide bushing and I'm not sure if any compact...
