Pretty much right; A. I would add that duration of load and ambient temp makes a difference for the heat build up/dissipation on any of these examples B. 10a on 16 gauge @ 100ft is probably best...

I've had one of these for a couple of years now. It's very nice. Good quality and gets the job done. I wouldn't use it for my electric tiller, but it's completely fine for most loads.

Heat can build up in the coiled wiring if you are using a lot of power and do not unreel all the wire. Eventually it can actually melt the insulation and short circuit, ruining the extension cord.
