Disclaimer: The following is anecdotal evidence/personal experience... I wouldn't trust Seagate with any data. Almost every drive I've owned, internal or external, I get the actuator "click of...

Nice! Thanks for the post. In for one. For those complaining its an SMR drive, these aren't THAT slow and if you are concerned about speed you should be buying solid state anyway. I glad these...

Hrmm how does a 5400 RPM drive have read/write speed of 6gb/s? I thought the gen 4 m.2 are 5gb/s

These are SMR correct? I read that Seagate changed their 5400 rpm line to SMR early last year.

I bought a 2Tb barracuda from Newegg last month for $79 and received a dead HD. Returned it for a replacement but they were out of stock and only issued me a refund when the barracudas are now over...

Here are my personal experiences with a number of other Seagate SMR drives: I had SMR drives in a RAID 5 and RAID 6 configuration. They performed ok but RAID rebuilds took forever (2 weeks!!!)...

Essentially, as smr fills up or with larger files it can become extremely slow. Not good for NAS. Not good for watching 4k videos.

The interface is 6gb/s. Just look at benchmarks for what you need. Larger platter sizes allow you to have a lower rpm. I prefer 5400rpm vs 7200rpm, quite/less power. If I need over 180MBps speed,...

Thanks for the post. However, 5400 RPM is way too slow for my liking and the 2 TB drive is too small. Stuck between a Rock and a Hard Place.

Gigabits aren't Gigabytes. Gb/s vs GB/s. SATA is 6Gb, and NVME gen 4 x4 is about 8GB/s, both interfaces won't be able to reach those speeds though because of overhead.

I think so, bummer. The general consensus online: xxxxxxDM00x = SMR xxxxxxDM000x = PMR That would indicate this is SMR.
