I went from a 2018 15". Its weird how much bigger it feels. Doesn't fit into my old bag either. On the other hand, the screen Realestate also feels like a big jump. I don't think I'd go back.

I edit 4K with a 16gb no prob (strong eGPU) but if I was to buy today would prefer a 32gb for future proofing for video editing (8k etc) primarily, if it’s for regular work 16 is enough

even with an i7 any sort of "pro" work is going to be limited with 16Gb of Ram. Just the other day I was working on a 15-minute home movie of my babies and was using like 25.4Gb of Ram or something.

Probably can achieve high speeds with NVMe and thunderbolt 3 but I personally wouldn’t store any critical data on an external drive on a laptop. It is too easy to pull it out without unmounting it.

This is factually incorrect. An external NVMe over USB-C or TB3 is absolutely fast enough (for even 4K HDR). And reliable.
