How did you get Apple to cave? I was told a 2011 was completely out of warranty even for the known issue so a replacement logic board couldn’t be ordered and there was nothing that they could do.

Good price for the specs, definitely depends on what your needs are. It's a fairly large laptop. weighs 5.6lbs + 1.8lbs for the charger so probably not ideal for those that do a lot of traveling....
