Who came up with that watch brand name? Should be shot.

Not sure if their quality dropped since they bought out by HK/Chinese company

Titanium coating is silly. There are titanium watches you can get though, for fairly cheap. If you’re looking for an automatic field watch that’s titanium, look at the Boldr Adventure. Only $200.

I agree. Scratches easily. Keep stainless steel or gold.

Yup the venture! Misquote with the ‘adventure’. I actually ordered one with some parachute straps, so I’m excited to have a cheap beater. I wear a watch everyday and I’m not enjoying using my...

I did not place Tag above Omega. I'm stating that Tag Heuer, by way of advertising, is very well known. Omega is well known as well, but my point was that Omega may not be as well known as Tag...

Thank you. My concern with stainless steel is that they scratch easily .. I don't know if the one mentioned here is scratch resistant.

Imo, a single Bonds movie will give more brand recognition than the entire campaign. Also a quick google suggest Omega spent around $100 million while Tag spent $45 million in advertising. Not...

Ball is the last name of the founder. Trainmaster is the watch series name. Ball Watches are typically named with railroad terms like Engineer, Conductor, Trainmaster, and Fireman. They're riffing...

Just wear it in good health. Unless you plan on selling it, it doesn’t matter and the scratches are just reminders of your life. Last time I had one of my watches serviced, they mentioned that that...

If you want scratch resistant, get a ceramic/zirconium case. They won’t scratch, but will shatter if enough force is applied. They are much harder than stainless steel. Panerai and Omega make some...

I would argue that Ball has better fit and finish than Oris from my experience but I ended up selling both brands though. Also, placing Tag above Omega in any comparison is kind of silly. Ball is...

Ha, I purchased this watch at this price from Joma last week. Lots of ignorance about this brand, but I’m glad to see some posters providing some knowledge. I’ve owned three balls (heh), and...

Webster Clay Ball was in charge of keeping time on American railroads. Hence the "official railroad standard" moniker. It's a historically important brand. Read up.

Sure - but you can also find used Tags on the gray market for $300-400.. they don’t hold their value like Rolex, Omega, Panerai, etc. Tags are okay pieces but I personally find them lacking. I’d...

Taking it personal? He criticized just about everything I wrote in my first post, so excuse me if I did take it a bit personal - it was. And no, he's not "100% correct." Please, Tag is a luxury /...

Hahahaha... okay, yeah, Tag Heuer is "lower tier." Nobody that knows anything about watches believes that. Most of the world couldn't stomach paying more than $150 for a non-smart watch, and most...

Nah, I think that phrase doesn't do the justice of accurately categorizing these toxic buffoons... But really, just take a look at any luxury watch thread. These clowns think viewing a few...

Listen, Fossil can make a $1,000 watch, it doesn’t make them a luxury brand. I’m only ignoring your “point” because it’s irrelevant. Again, take a look at any reputable watch community and you’ll see...

I wear a Breitling superOcean. My Tags are older quartz watches with "normal" bezels. So, it's not as if I'm clapping back at you with a Tag sitting on my wrist - right now. So, I'm not trying to...

Holy moly has this gotten out of hand. This all started because I said I find Ball to have better fit and finish than Oris and that Tag is not as well known as Omega. Both points I still stick by....

Yea I’ve handled Oris pieces and found them to be overpriced as well. Bunch of hype. This Ball watch at this price is nice.

I may regret asking this, but what material would you say a $1000 watch should be made from?
Post #134342870 added 01-17-2020 3:47 PM by minj in Deal Talk
Precious metals usually start around $20k for any respectable brand so I'm kind of confused on what someone expects on a $1k watch. Ceramics/Zirconiums are $4-6k starting last I checked and that...
