It seems that this works for original Gamecube controllers and only the newer versions of other controllers (NES, SNES, etc.), but NOT original NES, SNES, etc. controllers.

You can also plug any controller that would plug into a Wiimote and use it via Bluetooth or USB. Great for Dolphin.

I ended up buying the switch pro controllers. Haha. Not much of a solution but I was able to get them for about $45 a piece.
