This is false. Ionizers generate negatively charged ions (mostly oxygen) that combines with particles in the air. Ozone is O3 and is completely different.

Yes, they do. That said, I measured mine to use something like 3-4 watts on low, and 7-8 watts on medium, so I leave it turned on all day, which is what Wirecutter recommends.
