I picked it up yesterday after combining several GCs from the hue light kit deal from back in December. This gave me another $50 GC and so I then bought the hue light strip. It seems to work great...

Don’t deduct a gc price. A $50 gc isn’t $50

I tried an app that did okay for syncing the lights to the movie but honestly a simple backlight color is a much better experience.

My receiver literature says that it can. If I only use one HDMI output it can do DV. If I use both HDMI outputs, it can only do HDR10 on each.

If you plan on using Phillips light sync with a computer, you don't need this box, just install Hue software and be done. If you want to sync Phillips lights to your TV, only then you need this box.
