You’re really unlikely to notice. I used a dramless HP drive in my bedroom computer since it takes forever to boot with 11 hdds anyway. It is about halfway between a sata and nvme in terms of speed....

For an extra $2 the sx8200 is well worth it. I've got the 512 and it works great. Read and writes are much faster than the WD.

Green is the lowest tier but they aren’t nvme, just m.2 sata or regular sata. They are dramless and kinda slow but really cheap. I got a couple of cheap 1tb and use them as game drives.

yes. Optane memory uses up the nvme slot as a cache drive. An actual SSD is far better especially if you migrate your OS to it

The current MLC is Samsung "Boom" 970 Pro. The ship of MLC has sailed for the most part. 3D TLC is the new game in town. They also make QLC drives, but I won't bother.
