I use this to make pancakes and it’s fine but for stuff like custard where the flavor of the vanilla would be more obvious I would use the real vanilla extract.

imho, until vanilla prices go down you should save the real stuff for low temp things like custard, chocolate candies, ice cream, etc.
anything that's baked to a high temp is going to evaporate...
