Compared to the 4TB, this is slightly cheaper. I'm putting one in for a build I'm needing soon, so this works for me.

Not sure if it's true, but I heard the ones that go into the easystore did not meet specs to work as "true" Reds but do qualify to work as easystores? Is that what you meant by white label?

It’s not too bad compared to recent prices but at $21/TB I would hold out for $15 for impulse buy

Because they are Seagate would be my guess. As for this deal, is there any reason, other than possibly warranty (and that is still a gray area) that one should go for these Reds over shucking...

I agree that 5400 rpm drives last longer but they should be 7200 rpm in order get the 'NAS' red label. Also, IMO the 7200 RPM drives are almost as reliable as 5400 rpm drives. In my workplace, we...

I've had a deal alert for a while for WD Reds. I bought two 8TB drives on Prime Day 2019 for $150/each. Just waiting for that price again. 6TB @ $130 doesn't seem that great in comparison.

white = red but you're paying a premium here for the 3yr warranty vs the 2yr warranty with the easystore (plus saving the enclosure)

Nas relies on raid (usually synchronous reads/writes) so multiple drives writing data at the same time is what the speeds are built on not the individual drive rpm. Also Nas drives are usually always...

Raid 1 - requires two drives, I'll keep one as a backup should 1 fail somewhere down the road as identical drives makes replacement streamless.

Wait for a WD EasyStore 8TB deal. There was one last week for $115. EasyStore (and Elements) use white label Reds in them.
