I have known sprint phones to work with absent sims at 3g. I'm almost tempted to pull out the sim and see if it will in this case also. Either way it's two different technologies..but for free.....

Yes, I think if a person wants to avoid the hassle of possible failure to get a free SIM card, the $3 Sprint SIM kit being discussed is a better way to go. That's probably good advice.
