I've used my everyday for over a year. Still as good as new. Flakes aren't hazardous. People confuse the chemicals used during manufacture being dangerous with the final product.

Phobics are well... phobic about non-stick coatings. I got a SS pot for hard things like ribs. But my non-stick pot hasn't suffered any damage from that.

That lid is a requirement even if you never use it with the cooker. It's a lid for the pot. So when you have a lot left over, just put the lid on and stick it in the fridge. Put it back in the cooker...

Always go bigger if you can. The 6 is enough, but if you are doing big meals you'll really appreciate those extra quarts. I do meal prepping in mine once a month or so
