Think it's been this price for a while now.

The ridgid 1/2 impact with the "2" 3.0 octane battery's and Charger that was on sale for the past month for $169 was a far better deal. It's since expired.

I believe 620 ft/lb claim is ONLY on REVERSE. Not related to battery, I believe. Alas, if they broke the battery and I can get the wrench for around $80 or so, I will jump on this as I already...

I was comparing apples to apples when it comes to price. If you've got $150 and want an impact wrench, you get a lot more capability for your money with the Ridgid. Yes, it's heavier and bulkier,...

The Makita would be a compact size impact wrench whereas the Ridgid would be a Mid-Torque, or mid-size impact wrench. The Ridgid is a much larger tool. The equivalent Ridgid impact wrench in size...

Ah ok thanks! I was a bit worried because I saw an amazon review saying it’s too weak to remove lug nuts, but from my understand most commercial car lug nuts are torqued to about 80 ft pds of torque...

The 3/8” Ridgid impact is 200ft/lbs and the 1/2” (mentioned here) does 450ftlbs with that battery or 620ftlbs with an octane battery

The original gen5x 1/2” impact and the 1/2” octane are EXACTLY the same tool, they couldn’t brand it as octane yet when it came out. The claims of 485ftlbs on and 620ftlbs off with the octane battery...

That's where they get you as I have said previously. The 620ft/lbs is nut busting torque which they never listed before so there is nothing to compare it to.

Is this powerful enough to remove lug nuts with ease?

Don’t need the battery/charger, will Home Depot let me break it apart for credit?

Doubt it, but the bare tool is sold there for $129. Also in my opinion sell the extra stuff on eBay.

Is this still a decent leap from the brushed gen4 impact wrench? I have it and it's fine for lug nuts, but couldn't budge a rusty axle nut at all.

Warranty if you buy it from EBay? Easy return?

Not that great of a tool, pretty underpowered. The Ridgid 1/2" is much stronger.
Post #134789078 added 02-06-2020 8:13 PM by Faka in Deal Talk
The Ridgid one for sure: from web; "Impact Wrench: Maximum torque output of 485 ft./lbs. of torque in forward and 620 ft./lbs. of torque in reverse for heavy-duty applications" and from Q&A; "I use...

I prefer Honeycrisp over any apple that I’ve tried in the last five years.

Oh yeah. The gen 5x is a much more powerful impact wrench.

If you like Pink Lady, Envy apples deserve a try.

And Makita has one that is stronger than that, so lets compare apples to apples.

For the money I think I'm going to buy this one and see what i can get for the gen4 on ebay to recoup some cost.

i already own two ridgid 1/2" impact wrenches. it is extremely handy. i keep one in my transport truck and one in the shop; temping to purchase a third i really recommend the ridgid impact to...

That's probably a misread. The 5x gen pre-Octane impact wrench (which is actually same as current Octane model) has 450 ft/lbs of torque using non octane battery. With Octane battery it is rated at...

For anyone on the fence just go ahead and buy it. I've had this since it launched 2 years ago around xmas. It has done everything I needed on my trucks (f450s) I also use it on my person stuff and...

How does this Rigid or Makita compare to M12 Fuel impact wrench (250 lbs-ft)? The Milwaukee one is $159 just for the tool.
