Most around-the-house hardware is SAE though... if you are tightening up a toilet flange or putting in a lag bolt, it will probably be SAE.

Can I use this set with a Ryobi impact driver to rotate my tires or would I need to buy an adapter or something?

I doubt the Ryobi has enough torque to loosen the tire lug nuts. But you can use it when you already loosened it a bit. Nothing special - but you do need a right size 6-point socket.

I'd probably say to just have both, they come in handy. You can get away with 1/4 for most things since it goes up to 14mm. I flip back and forth between these sizes for home stuff, bike work and...

Nice deal if you need a steel ratchet. HF doesn't even carry a steel 3/8" ratchet for under $10 before coupons. This is a decent car set and has a 17mm socket. But no 1/4" drives. ...

so irritating that they include a 16mm but not a 17mm. I have never used a 16mm in my life, but use 17mm frequently

I've been a huge fan of the HF composite ratchets after their $5 coupon, but I'm grabbing one of these in each size. At this price it kicks butt, and they're the 72 point ratchets.

They come in a decent, molded plastic case. The back hinge looks strong, but the hinge on the front clasp it just folded plastic, so it will probably fail at some point.
