It brings the screen closer to the glass. Makes the screen look nicer overall (doesn’t seem like a screen behind a pane of glass, but that screen and glass are one unit) and the iPad thinner.

I only looked at the single vs multicore benchmarks and it seems to be about 30% higher score. Not sure how it translates into real world use though. I was definitely debating between the two but...
