I grabbed this CPU for 80 and an asus mobo MC in the previous sale. The cpu runs about 30-35C in idle w/ stock cooler, but you may want to consider grab an aftermarket cooler if ur getting an AMD...

Yup, couldn't agree more. RAM is cheap. SSD is cheap. Video cards are reasonable.

I was thinking more along the budget AMD side where a 8GB 580 can be had for around $150. But, you are right about NVIDIA pricing, and high-end cards in general.
