No, it works great for trim. The only thing is these 2 in 1 guns leave a larger hole to fill due to wider striker blade for the staple option. I found you can shoot at an angle to reduce this

The third picture shows a depth adjustment. Run a couple brads through a sample piece until you get the depth right. You shouldn't have this problem again.
