Holy cow! What kind of contraption is this? Only thing it's missing is water filtration, solar charging, and some kind of projectile... They've created super-spy gear!

I'd say it's 50/50. I believe this will work as a wifi bridge as well. You connect it to the hotel wifi and then it broadcasts its own SSID for your devices to connect to. This cuts the wifi speed...

I was too thinking that. I do not see ethernet cables anymore. So; sharing internet or using as wifi would be low as most phones has personal hotspots.

Hmm what an interesting device. It’s a router, a battery charger, and has a SD card slot for storage or connect an external hard drive. Didn’t know such versatile device was in the market, thanks!...

Thanks. I see that it says "bridge and extend wifi" so this works like a wifi extender. Good to know.

Do you have a link to that one? I want it if anything to share the airplane or hotel Wi-Fi that have a limit to number of devices.

You connect to the router. This redirects you to the router's config page. On this page you tell the router to connect to the plane's wifi. Now your computer is getting internet from the router...

If you use it via wifi and not ethernet, your packets will be protected from your device to your router but then open and visible from the travel router to the hotels unsecured wifi if I Am not...

Yeah, I experimented with this route to be as minimal as possible and not have to bring a computer to backup my SD cards to my hard drive. Ultimately, it was just simpler and faster to just buy...

At least how I have used mine, the device creates it's own network. Usually we take it on flights or long trips and we can all log on to the wifi (no internet) connection and stream movies saved on...

You missed my point. This router does not do USB tethering. That is the fatal flaw.

It doesn't serve much of a function aside from a travel router but since it has storage, I'm comparing it to this scenario for rideshare passengers: I get a portable monitor, kensington lock and a...

It falls short as a travel router. It cannot do USB tether for cell phone to use as wifi hotspot. That is major use of travel router. It will bridge but at half the already sloooow speed.

How do you use in flight? Do planes have ethernet ports? Or can this connect to the in-flight wifi AND broadcast its own SSID? I don't fly that much, but I use in-flight wifi most of the time. I...

AFAIK all of these have USB 2 ports not usb 3.0 or 3.1 so you may be severely limited in transfer speed depending on what you are trying to do from/to a usb storage device. For example, transferring...

One use case is for paid internet connections. For example in Vegas, nicer hotels like the Wynn will bill internet on a per-device basis (It's $20/day/device unless paying a $40 resort fee). So...
