looks like 3e only supports upto 8 zones, so if you need more, you need a regular 3

That's fine for me. I only have 4 zones. Also, the regular 3 comes with an 8 zones model also for $80+ more.

I contacted their customer support to ask yesterday and haven't heard back. Seems it's brand new and the product comparison page just says "coming soon".

Just got exactly the same email from Rachio. Seems like it is a replacement for the Gen 2 basically so they can still sell a cheaper product. Has all the same features :-) as the Gen 2. Not worth it,...
