When you do Karaoke just change the receiver to stereo mode and disable all the speakers except the two front tower. That's what I do with my 5.1 set up.

Get a Marantz. They are really nice units. Make sure you get one with Audyssey. The calibration it will give you is night/day difference then just running a normal receiver.

Klipsch is a very efficient speaker, pretty much any decent receiver will run them fine.
I would suggest just looking for open box or used since you only need 5 channels with this package.
