I did this last week. The holes didn't line up very well. but with a headboard attachment, I think they will. Right now I was only able to get one screw in so it isn't super stable. But it will work...

I have an iteration of this. The entire bed is packed into the headboard. I do not recommend it, i wished I had spent more.
