The same build is 661 now with the same 1660 Super which is a fair bit more powerful than an Rx 580. I don't crap on pre-built deals either in fact I've posted a few myself. This one just isn't a...

Correct. This is a $550 build especially if they used builds from deals (rx 580 $135 from Newegg Ebay listing, and 2600x $80 from Microcenter in Feb). I would even just have a 1600AF from Amazon...

Can you build one with same specs now for under $650?

Almost anything made in the past 6 years will do this. Imo is grab a refurb dell optiplex for $250 and maybe slap another stick of ram in it and roll with that. Something with an i5 3xxx or higher.

Everyone will work at home and will need new comps. There are long lines trying to get into Costco AND Microcenter. Old people n 80s and 90s dont need gaming level computers. Demand will stay high....

Regardless of whether this could be built cheaper, would it run HL alyx acceptably?
Post #135711611 added 03-23-2020 11:24 AM by nautilii in Deal Talk
In fact you don't even need to spend $250 for that. Search ebay for i5-3450, i5-3470, i5-3550 or similar (don't bother with any i3s) and change the category to desktops and all in ones. There should...

I think it'll play higher, no? These games aren't too hard on cards.
Post #135697262 added 03-22-2020 3:18 PM by tvue83 in Deal Talk
Your build is $100 more and the gtx 1660 is not worth $40 more than the 580.
Post #135697274 added 03-22-2020 3:19 PM by caveman01 in Deal Talk
I wont even consider this a good deal. This is a $550 build IMO.

This PC is good for 1080p gaming and 1440p at medium settings. I'd say if you can wait another month or two, you can find something better. If you need it today, this is a good price.

There was a really recent sale where a 1660 non super went to $180 which I think should've been the regular price, and sale price should have been $160 to match a best-bang-for-buck price of that rx...

Crap deal. $500-550 is warm. Not a deal at all at $650.
Post #135678491 added 03-21-2020 3:42 PM by TEASHTON in Deal Talk
It would work if you put it on the lowest settings. As for how good of a deal, add up the prices of the parts. Seems like a decent deal.

With rx 580 8gb video card, you don't have to use lowest setting on a FHD 144hz monitor unless yours is 4k version.
Post #135688229 added 03-22-2020 5:53 AM by Mando_DealHunter in Deal Talk
At this price point we should be seeing 1660 Super based systems. These Rx 580 systems were okay around the holidays but you can definitely build something better for $650 ...

League of Legends and Overwatch, I want stable fps for 144hz monitor. I don’t mind if I have to use lowest settings.
