The purchasing account must be associated with a Switch at time of purchase. You can buy codes from other retailers, but you cannot buy directly from the eShop any other way.

What is odd on my end is that I logged into a switch, & went into the eshop to avoid this issue. Then today this deal comes up & I still get that error code when trying to purchase from the webpage....
