I think I read the other big difference between the slim vs not slim (other than OLED, obviously) was the slim uses a standard usb plug for charging while the OG uses some proprietary cable.

Vita Is the absolute best emulation box. Pretty easy to jailbreak it too. And you can get a micro SD card adapter for it for a couple bucks

No, it sucks for remote play. It doesn't have enough buttons, it's missing the 2 back triggers, so you have to use the touchpad instead. Crazy hard on some games.

Agree with TOM on this one. I think every version is now hackable. You may have to take an extra step to do the version down grade but it’s not too hard to do.
