Does this set use friction to keep the socket on the ratchet? I tried one at Costco and didn’t like it. The ratchets were very hard to get out the case too.

I doubt it, these are excellent quality.....I had an old Crescent set from Costco and those ratchets all broke. I'm very pleased with the DeWalt set.

they have individual holders but the pieces are very tight and difficult to get out when you need them. the case is the worst part of this set.
