They meant "power converter". The connector spec changed over time. Look for "pin 3" in previous deals. Some systems require that one of the pins be covered so there is no connection.

Got a 12tb elements (has the true 12tb white drive inside) which is definitely PMR. Check if the drive has TRIM support via crystaldisk... If it does, it's SMR.

What's the reliability on these? I used to have a couple WD externals and the controller would die after a year or so. Usually ended up ripping the case open to retrieve data from the drive
