Not sure. I use a third party remote with my Shield which has no issues. I know there have been several remote updates. Personally, I'd just get the 2017 and pay the extra $30 for the new Shield...

Not really. If you need lossless audio then yes, but then you won’t get DV playback with Kodi on the 2019 Shield so you might as well just get some other box for that anyways, either the 2017/2015...

To me no USB ports is a deal killer. I have the old one and have 14 TB of movies that I use the shield to play plus a , 128 GB to hold all the programs. Going to get a pro when I can find one.

Actually almost all TVs , except Samsung's, support DV, as do most 4k blue Ray's, and Netflix. That said DV implimention is a mess,,you miss little using basic hdr10.

I dont have any issue with the cylindrical with plex. My setup is with NAS with Plex server connected to the router and shield wirelessy accessing the NAS. Bluray ripped HDR atmos dont have any issue...
