They use brushless motors which are more efficient and stronger, and have the circuit to draw more power from the batteries when they need the extra load. The power difference is noticable.

Ryobi Brushless kit on clearance. It does have the less desirable P239 Impact Driver instead of the P238, but seems like a good deal for a brushless kit.
