From my very limited and short research, it appears to be a Z-Wave (not Plus); thus, less secure. I wouldn't worry about it much as a regular user, but for a power user, Plus is a must.

You could still enter the pin. If you actually run out of battery on the Yale lock, then you can use a 9v battery as a back up.
