that depends on your urgency to use this gadget. if walmart delivered the phone, not sure why the sim would be much longer (it was the opposite for many like me wherein the sim came much earlier)....

No need to touch the new SIM. Just plug the old sim into the phone. There is no "activation" needed. The activation is to tie the new SIM to the phone number which is optional.
